Koerner Library 1958 Main Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z2 Canada Dear Koerner Library, I am writing to express my interest in the Stack/Shelving Assistant position at the Work Learn Program Winter 2024. My name is Leah Song and I am a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for books and organization. With my experience in customer service and strong organizational skills, I believe I would be a valuable addition to the Koerner Library team. I have always been fascinated by the world of literature and its ability to transport us to different places and times. Growing up, I spent countless hours in my local library, browsing through the shelves and discovering new books to read. This love for books has only grown stronger as I pursued my education in English Literature at the University of British Columbia. As a student, I have spent a significant amount of time at Koerner Library, and I am constantly impressed by the diverse collection and the welcoming atmosphere. When I came across the Stack/Shelving Assistant position at Koerner Library, I was immediately drawn to it. The opportunity to work in such a dynamic and diverse environment, surrounded by books, is a dream come true for me. I am particularly excited about the prospect of working at Koerner Library because of its reputation for providing excellent resources and services to the UBC community. I am confident that my skills and experience align perfectly with the requirements of this position. In my previous role as a customer service representative, I developed strong communication and interpersonal skills while assisting and interacting with a diverse range of customers. I understand the importance of providing exceptional service and strive to exceed expectations in every aspect of my work. I am a quick learner and adapt well to new systems and procedures. I am also highly organized and detail-oriented, which are essential qualities for a Stack/Shelving Assistant. I am confident that my skills will enable me to excel in this role and contribute positively to the Koerner Library team. In addition to my work experience, I have also acquired relevant skills through my coursework and extracurricular activities. During my time at university, I have taken courses in library studies and book conservation, which have given me a deeper understanding of library operations and the importance of preserving and organizing books. I have also volunteered at various book drives and book fairs, where I gained practical experience in sorting and shelving books. These experiences have further developed my attention to detail and my ability to work well under pressure. As an avid reader and someone who values the importance of education and access to resources, I am also drawn to Koerner Library's commitment to providing inclusive and equitable services to all members of the UBC community. I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of a team that shares these values and actively works towards creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. I am confident that my skills and passion for books make me a strong candidate for the Stack/Shelving Assistant position at Koerner Library.
