Dear Hiring Manager, I am writing to express my interest in the General Assistant position at Wits- NCDRD. As someone who has a passion for helping others, I was excited to see an opening at an esteemed organization like Wits- NCDRD. I have recently completed my volunteer work at the South African Redcross Society and my most recent job as a Mental Health Supervisor Counsellor at the Health Epidemiology Research Office under Wits Health, and I am confident that my experiences and skills make me a strong candidate for this role. During my time at the South African Redcross Society, I had the opportunity to work with orphan vulnerable children in their after school program. One of my responsibilities was cooking for them, ensuring that they had nutritious meals. I also took on tasks such as cleaning the office and managing materials used for cleaning, which helped me develop my organizational and time management skills. Additionally, I was responsible for ordering supplies on time, which taught me the importance of planning and being proactive. At my previous job, I worked as a Mental Health Supervisor Counsellor at the Health Epidemiology Research Office under Wits Health. My main duties were to offer support and guidance to the counsellors, as well as providing counselling and skills to women experiencing mental health issues and intimate partner violence. I also recruited and screened participants, which enhanced my communication and interpersonal skills. Furthermore, I am proficient in using Redcap and Microsoft packages, which I believe will be valuable at Wits-RHI. What I find most appealing about this particular position at Wits- NCDRD is the opportunity to work at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto - DPHRU. Having grown up in Soweto, I am deeply connected to the community and I am passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of those around me. Working at Wits- NCDRD would not only allow me to continue contributing to the community, but also give me the opportunity to work with a team of dedicated individuals towards a common goal. I am confident that my previous experiences and skills make me a strong fit for this role. I have a GCP Certificate, and I have also worked as a HTS and adherence counsellor. These experiences have allowed me to develop strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills, all of which I believe are essential for the General Assistant position. In addition to my qualifications and experiences, I am also a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual. I am always eager to learn and take on new challenges, and I am not afraid to step out of my comfort zone.
