Dear DFW,
Greetings!
My name is Kelly and I am writing to express my strong interest in the Community Involvement and Education Manager position at Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. As a proud member of the Sinixt band of the Colville Confederated Tribes, I am excited about the opportunity to use my skills and experience to promote connection and stewardship with nature, especially in the state of Washington.
I have over 12 years of experience in outreach and education with Tribal communities and Tribal governments. This has not only allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the unique needs and perspectives of these communities, but also to build strong relationships and partnerships. Through my work, I have been able to bridge the gap between traditional ecological knowledge and western science, promoting a holistic approach to natural resource management.
In addition to my experience with Tribal communities, I have over 15 years of experience working in Natural Resources in Washington state. My love for nature and my passion for promoting its conservation and sustainable use have only grown with each passing year. I have had the opportunity to work on various projects and initiatives, from habitat restoration to wildlife monitoring, and have gained a diverse set of skills and knowledge in the process.
What excites me most about this particular position at Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife is the opportunity to combine my passion for nature with my skills in community involvement and education. I strongly believe that education and outreach are key to creating a more sustainable and harmonious relationship between people and the environment. And with my creative approach and strong work ethic, I am confident that I can make a significant impact in this role.
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to effectively communicate with people from all age groups, backgrounds, and education levels. This has been honed through my experience working with diverse communities and my involvement in various educational programs. I am able to tailor my message to suit the audience and engage them in a meaningful way. Whether it is through workshops, presentations, or social media, I am always eager to find new and innovative ways to connect people with nature.
I am also no stranger to collaboration and teamwork. In my previous roles, I have worked closely with internal departments and external agencies to achieve common goals. This has not only helped me to develop strong communication and interpersonal skills, but also to gain a better understanding of the complexities of natural resource management and the importance of collaboration.
I am particularly drawn to Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife because of its commitment to conservation and sustainability. I have long admired the department's efforts in protecting and managing the state's diverse and abundant natural resources. As someone who has spent most of their life in Washington, I am proud to be a part of an organization that shares my values and is dedicated to preserving the beauty and diversity of this state for future generations.
In my current role as an Education Coordinator at a local conservation organization, I have been able to develop and implement various educational programs and events that have successfully engaged and educated the community about the importance of conservation. I have also been responsible for managing budgets, coordinating with partners and volunteers, and developing marketing materials. These experiences have further strengthened my skills in project management, organization, and attention to detail.
As I researched more about Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife, I was impressed by the department's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. These are values that are very important to me and I am excited about the opportunity to work in an environment that recognizes and celebrates the diversity of its employees and stakeholders.

I am eager to bring my passion for nature and my dedication to community involvement and education to this role and make a positive impact in the state of Washington.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my qualifications further.
