offer free public programming and publish Glass Quarterly magazine. Executive Director role We are seeking a spirited
dynamic and experienced art professional to direct UrbanGlass as we head towards our 50th anniversary and beyond. The Executive Director leads the organization in fulfilling its mission and sets priorities in collaboration with the Board of Directors for its sustainability and growth. The Executive Director reports to a 25-person Board of Directors. The Executive Director oversees all UrbanGlass programs
which include studio
education
the Agnes Varis Art Center’s store (UrbanGlass|Ware) and gallery (Robert Lehman Gallery) and the publication of Glass Quarterly magazine. They hire
manage and guide staff
are the primary liaison between the Board and staff
are an effective fundraiser and strategic leader
accomplishing financial goals by fostering relationships with donors
funders and stakeholders
always building and expanding a network of support for the organization. The Executive Director works with our user community

to inspire
develop and support an inclusive community open and conducive to creativity among individuals learning about
working with and exploring the medium of glass. General expectations: ● Serve as a public representative of the organization
fostering relationships with community members
artists
designers
architects and other creatives
elected officials
donors and prospective funders. ● Work in partnership with the Board of Directors to set and further the organization's priorities. ● Develop
oversee and implement comprehensive annual fundraising initiatives to increase contributed revenue and cultivate relationships with individual donors
corporations
foundations
and government agencies. ● Plan and lead major annual fundraising events and targeted cultivation activities. ● Work with the Director of Finance to create the annual budget
determine revenue and expense projections in collaboration with the program leads. ● Motivate
supervise
evaluate and mentor all UrbanGlass staff. Create a supportive
collaborative
productive and healthy work environment based on respect
teamwork and clear expectations and responsibilities. ● Assist in growing
diversifying
and supporting the Board of Directors
leveraging their expertise
networks
and resources to support the organization’s mission and goals. You’ll feel ready for this role with: ● Demonstrated success as a senior leader in a not-for-profit organization
preferably in the arts and culture sector
for 5+ years. ● Excellent verbal and communication skills with the ability to serve as the primary spokesperson for UrbanGlass. ● Appreciation for glass as a creative material and a willingness to learn more to effectively champion the organization’s mission. Previous knowledge of the field is a plus. ● Ability to work fluidly across all levels of the organization
building buy-in to garner support from internal and external stakeholders. ● Strategic thinking
translating plans into actionable steps and achievable goals. ● Passion for the arts to promote the visibility
work and impact of UrbanGlass in the cultural landscape of NYC and beyond. You’ll need: ● To be onsite for meetings
events and other activities to support donor cultivation and fundraising efforts
including on weekends and after hours. ● To be around fire and other glass-based processes while in the studio ● To move about the office
gallery and studio space to interact with staff
board members and other stakeholders ● Sit or stand for long periods of time to work on a computer
