In terms of handbuilding, I have a strong understanding of various techniques such as coiling, pinching, and slab building. I have also worked with different types of clay, both earthenware and stoneware, and I am familiar with their properties and how to manipulate them to achieve desired results.
In terms of kiln firing, I have experience with both electric and gas kilns, as well as different firing methods such as oxidation and reduction. I am confident in my ability to load and fire kilns, as well as troubleshoot and make adjustments when necessary. Additionally, I am skilled in glaze preparation and have a deep understanding of glaze chemistry. I am familiar with various glaze materials and their effects, and I am able to mix and test glazes to achieve desired results.
Apart from technical skills, I am also highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. I am comfortable working independently as well as in a team setting, and I have excellent communication skills. I am also proficient in various computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, which I believe will be beneficial in managing studio inventory and creating promotional materials for Turning Earth.
In my previous role as a studio technician at a local ceramics studio, I was responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the studio, managing inventory and supplies, and assisting with classes and workshops.
