1984 and worked for about 23 years and 8 months. During this period
I worked for fisheries extension in different districts
and as an assistant as well as chief of various fisheries development centres. During this period I also got chances to attend various job-related training courses in China (Integrated Fish Farming

Throughout my career, I have worked in various capacities from the level of Class III officer up to the level of Joint Secretary and Director, gaining extensive knowledge and skills in all aspects of fisheries. I am particularly drawn to this position at The Food and Agriculture Organization of The United Nations because it aligns perfectly with my passion for promoting sustainable fisheries and ensuring food security. The opportunity to work with a renowned international organization like FAO and contribute to their mission of eradicating world hunger is both exciting and fulfilling. My experience in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Government of Nepal has provided me with a diverse range of skills and expertise. I have worked in various roles such as district fisheries extension officer, pond and hatchery construction supervisor, fish hatchery manager, and chief of government fisheries development centers. These roles have allowed me to work closely with local communities, farmers, and government officials to implement effective fisheries programs and promote sustainable practices. One of my most significant achievements was leading a two-year project funded by FAO titled 'Improving national carp seed production system in Nepal.' I had the privilege of managing the project secretariat and overseeing its implementation at the field level. This opportunity not only allowed me to apply my skills and knowledge but also gave me a deeper understanding of FAO's work and its impact on the ground. In addition to my extensive practical experience, I also hold a Diploma in Agriculture (B.Sc. Agriculture) and a Master's degree in Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. I have also participated in various training courses in China, Bangladesh, Thailand, and India, further enhancing my technical skills and knowledge in the field of fisheries. The opportunity to work with FAO and contribute to the development of aquatic food value chains is a perfect fit for my skills, experience, and career goals. I am confident that my expertise in fisheries management, program planning and implementation, and capacity building will enable me to excel in this role.
