I am writing to apply for the position of Project Archivist at the New York Historical Society. I am a recent graduate of the MLS program at the University of Michigan with a concentration in archives and records management. I am passionate about history and preserving our collective memory for future generations. I am excited to put my skills to work at the New York Historical Society and contribute to your world-renowned institution.
I am confident that I have the skills and experience needed to be a successful Project Archivist at the New York Historical Society. In my previous role as an intern at the Bentley Historical Library, I gained experience working with a variety of archival materials, including photographs, manuscripts, and audio recordings. I am familiar with archival processing standards and have experience creating finding aids. I am also comfortable using a variety of digital tools and am familiar with basic web design.
In addition to my professional skills, I have a personal interest in New York history. I grew up in the Hudson Valley and have always been interested in the history of the region. I am excited to learn more about the history of New York City and to share my passion for history with the public.
