Dear Recruiting Team,
I am writing to express my interest in the Summer Intern (Insight Programme) position in Internal Audit at NatWest. My name is Lily and I am a dedicated and ambitious student pursuing a degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of London. After researching NatWest and the role, I am convinced that this opportunity would be the perfect fit for me and I am excited to submit my application.
What truly stood out to me about this position is the opportunity to be a part of NatWest's Internal Audit team. In your job description, you mention that this role requires individuals who can identify risks, ask the tough questions, and challenge where necessary. As someone who is not afraid to speak up and take initiative, I am confident that I possess the skills and qualities that will make me a valuable asset to your team.
Furthermore, I am drawn to NatWest's purpose-led strategy and commitment to protecting their customers' interests. In today's digital world, it is crucial for a bank to prioritize building relationships with their customers and providing them with financial confidence. I believe that NatWest's values align with my own, and it would be an honor to be a part of an organization that champions potential and helps individuals and businesses thrive.
In addition, I am highly impressed by the structure and support provided by NatWest's Insight Programme. The first day, which is an immersive business experience with the Internal Audit team, would allow me to gain a deeper understanding of the work you do and develop my network within the organization. The second day, where I would have the opportunity to join NWG's Black Professional's Network, is also something that I am looking forward to. As an individual of Black heritage, I am passionate about diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and I am excited to connect with inspiring colleagues and participate in interactive sessions focused on skills that are crucial for the future of the industry.
I am confident that this experience would not only enhance my business knowledge and skills but also my personal growth. I am in my second year of a four-year degree programme and will be graduating in 2026. Therefore, I am eligible to apply for the Insight Experience programme. I am also pleased to mention that I have the right to work in the UK in 2025, making me a suitable candidate for the 2025 Internship programme.
As a motivated and enthusiastic individual, I have always been eager to learn and challenge myself. My academic background in Accounting and Finance has equipped me with strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Through my coursework, I have developed a keen eye for detail and the ability to identify potential risks and discrepancies. I have also been actively involved in various extracurricular activities, including being a member of the Finance and Investment Society, where I have honed my communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. I am confident that these skills, combined with my passion for the banking industry, make me a strong candidate for this position.
I am also pleased to mention that I have completed an internship at a local accounting firm, where I gained hands-on experience in conducting audits and analyzing financial statements. This experience has further strengthened my interest in the field of Internal Audit, and I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills in a larger and more dynamic organization like NatWest.
Lastly, I would like to commend NatWest on its inclusive culture and commitment to hiring the best individuals regardless of their gender, race, culture, creed, or physical abilities. As someone who believes in equality and diversity, I am proud to be applying to a company that shares the same values.
In conclusion, I am highly motivated and excited about the opportunity to be a part of NatWest's Insight Programme and contribute to the success of your Internal Audit team. I am confident that my skills, passion, and determination make me an ideal candidate for this position. I would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss my application further and provide more information about my qualifications and experiences. Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Lily
