Dear [Hiring Manager’s Name],
I recently came across your job listing for a Legal Assistant (Entry Level) at Jacoby and Meyers and let me tell you, I almost fell off my chair with excitement! Not literally, of course, because that would be a little awkward and not really the best way to start off a cover letter. But you get the picture, right?
I have been searching for the perfect entry-level legal assistant position and your company seems like the perfect fit! I mean, a company that has the words “Jacoby” and “Meyers” in its name must have a great sense of humor, just like me. And let’s be real, who wouldn’t want to work for a company with such a catchy name? It’s like the legal version of “Ben & Jerry’s”, but instead of ice cream, you guys serve justice. I like it, I like it a lot.
But enough about your company name, let’s talk about the actual position. As someone who is just starting out in the legal world, I am looking for a company that will not only provide me with valuable experience, but also a fun and welcoming work environment. And from what I have heard and read about Jacoby and Meyers, you guys have both of those things covered. I mean, you even have a “Meet the Team” section on your website with pictures and bios of your staff. That’s just awesome.
But let’s not forget about the actual job responsibilities. As a legal assistant, I understand the importance of being detail-oriented and organized. And let me tell you, I am a pro at color-coding and creating spreadsheets. I can even make a spreadsheet to track how many times I’ve used the word “spreadsheet” in this cover letter. (Spoiler alert: it’s a lot). I am also a quick learner and have a knack for research, which I believe will be beneficial in this position.
One of the things that stood out to me about this particular position at Jacoby and Meyers is the opportunity to work with a wide range of legal cases. I have always been someone who enjoys a challenge and the thought of working on different types of cases excites me. Plus, I have always been a fan of Law & Order and I’m pretty sure that’s all the training I need to be a legal assistant. Just kidding, I promise I have actual skills and knowledge in the legal field.
Speaking of skills, I have a degree in Paralegal Studies and have completed internships at two law firms during my college years. I have experience with legal research, drafting legal documents, and providing support to attorneys. I also have excellent communication skills and am able to work well under pressure. Not to mention, I have a great sense of humor and can make a mean cup of coffee. Just in case that’s important to your team.
Now, I know what you may be thinking. “This cover letter is too long, I don’t have time to read all of this.” But let me tell you, I am not just a long-winded person trying to fill up space. I am genuinely interested in this position and your company. Plus, I have been told that I should try stand-up comedy, so I guess you could say I am just practicing my material with this cover letter. You’re welcome.
Oh, and before I forget, I have attached my resume for your review. I am also available for an interview at your convenience. I am willing to do a serious interview, but I would also be open to doing a comedic skit to showcase my skills. Just let me know what you prefer.
Thank you for taking the time to read my cover letter. I look forward to hearing back from you and hopefully joining the Jacoby and Meyers team. And if for some reason you decide not to hire me, I totally understand. I’ll just go back to watching Law & Order and pretending to be a lawyer in my living room.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
