Dear Chairman, I am writing in response to the Assistant Professor position advertised on the INSTUTION website. I am excited about the possibility of joining the INSTUTION community and contributing to the institution’s commitment to excellence in teaching and research. As a teacher and scholar, I bring a record of achievement and dedication to my students and to my discipline. In the classroom, I challenge my students to think critically and to develop their own voices and styles as writers. My research interests include composition theory, rhetoric, and literacy studies. I am currently working on a book project that examines the relationship between literacy practices and social change. I believe that my experience and skills would be a valuable addition to INSTUTION. I am committed to working with students from a variety of backgrounds and I am experienced in working with diverse populations. I am also committed to working with faculty across the institution to create a collaborative and supportive environment.
