HR Team,
LWF,
Dear HR Team,
I am writing to apply for the position of PMER Officer at LWF. My name is Abebe Liyew and I am excited about the opportunity to join your esteemed organization. I am particularly drawn to this position due to my strong passion for humanitarian work, and my skills and experience that align with the requirements of the role.
I have a good understanding of food security, livelihoods, WASH and Protection sectors, which I believe are essential in addressing the needs of vulnerable communities. Furthermore, I have a basic knowledge of CHS Accountability Standards and Humanitarian principles, including the Code of Conduct, Protection, Age and Disability Inclusion in Humanitarian activities. These skills have been honed through my previous work experience in the development sector.
What I find most appealing about this position is the opportunity to work with limited resources and still produce impactful results. I am a creative individual who is always eager to identify best practices and learning opportunities. I have the ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision, which I believe will be an asset in this role. Additionally, I have strong English language skills, both written and verbal, and I am able to produce cohesive and informative reports.
My previous experience in an INGO set up has given me a solid foundation in project planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. I am confident that I can seamlessly transition into this role and be responsible for the overall planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of projects being implemented under the management of the regional coordination office. In addition, I am well-versed in using computer programs such as ActivityInfo, SPSS, Kobo Collect, and Survey CTO, which are essential in data collection and analysis.
I am particularly interested in the location of this position, Lalibela, Amhara. Having grown up in this region, I have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the communities. This will enable me to design and implement a robust M&E system that captures the needs and concerns of the local population. I am also familiar with the culture and customs of the region, which will help me build strong relationships with the community and partners.
What sets me apart from other candidates is my ability to actively involve and support in project design and proposal development. I have a keen eye for detail and can design Terms of References for baseline, mid-term, and final evaluations based on available data, donor and LWF requirements. Furthermore, I have experience in providing technical guidance to project teams with planning the design and implementation of baseline/midline and other data requirements to support program analysis.
I am also committed to building the capacity of the project teams under the regional coordination office in the area of M&E. I believe in the power of teamwork and collaboration, and I am dedicated to ensuring that all team members are aware of, feel ownership, and take responsibility for the M&E goals, requirements, and tools. I have organized and led knowledge and learning events/workshops in my previous roles and will continue to do so in this position.
In addition to my technical skills, I am also an excellent communicator and have the ability to write human interest stories that can be shared with LWF World Service Ethiopia Head Office and donors. I believe that storytelling is a powerful tool in creating awareness and building support for humanitarian work. I am also skilled in compiling and preparing quarterly, bi-annual, annual, and other needs-based program/project progress reports.
Another aspect of this role that I am excited about is the opportunity to support the project teams in effectively rolling out LWF World Service Ethiopia accountability framework. I am passionate about promoting accountability and transparency in all aspects of my work. I am confident that I can lead the team in the implementation and follow-up of the CHS improvement plan of LWF Ethiopia.
I am also well-versed in literature reviews, secondary data analysis, and synthesis for proposals and believe that disseminating this information is crucial in creating a learning culture within the organization. I am also proficient in using ActivityInfo and will ensure that project profiles, country results framework, reports, stories, and other data of the various projects under the RCO are regularly updated and provided to the relevant stakeholders.
In my previous roles, I have always adhered to the organization's staff rules, collective agreement, and other operation manuals. I am familiar with LWF Ethiopia's procedures and will ensure that they are followed diligently. Furthermore, I am eager to assist the teams in ensuring the proper implementation of the LWF visibility guidelines as I believe it is essential to showcase the impact of our work.
I am confident that my skills, experience, and passion make me a strong candidate for the PMER Officer role at LWF. I am eager to join your team and contribute to the amazing work that LWF is doing in Ethiopia. I am available for an interview at your convenience and look forward to discussing my application with you further.
