Dear Rev. Terry Sweetser,
I am writing to express my excitement and enthusiasm for the Music Director position at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter. My name is Chris Humphrey and I have been following the work of your church for quite some time now. Your mission and vision to create a welcoming and inclusive community is truly admirable and something that resonates deeply with me.
As a musician and a strong believer in the Unitarian Universalist principles and practices, I was thrilled to come across the opportunity to join your team as the Music Director. After reviewing the job description and qualifications, I am confident that my skills and experience are a perfect match for this position.
One of the aspects that I am particularly drawn to about this position is the opportunity to lead a hybrid service musical program. In today's world, where virtual services have become the norm, it is crucial to have a strong and engaging music program that can support the mission and vision of the congregation. I have extensive experience in both live and virtual performances, which I believe will be an asset in creating a dynamic and inclusive music program for the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter.
My skills in developing and implementing creative multigenerational music programs have been honed through my years of experience as a Music Director. I have always believed in creating a diverse range of musical styles that can appeal to a wide audience. This, I believe, is essential in fostering a sense of community and inclusivity in a church setting. My expertise with piano and performance in various musical styles, along with my experience in accompaniment and choir conducting, have equipped me with the necessary skills to create a vibrant and engaging musical experience for the congregation.
One of the things that truly stood out to me about this position is the emphasis on working with volunteer musicians. Having worked with volunteers in the past, I understand the importance of creating a positive and encouraging environment in rehearsals. With my ability to run effective rehearsals and teach good vocal and ensemble skills, I am confident in my ability to build a strong and dedicated team of volunteer musicians.
Furthermore, I have a strong understanding of budgetary limitations and the importance of working within them. My experience in managing budgets for music programs, along with my strong organizational and planning skills, will enable me to create a successful and sustainable music program for the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter.
Aside from my technical skills, I believe my strong interpersonal skills are an essential aspect of being a successful Music Director. Building a sense of community and encouraging church members to grow together through music-making is something that I am deeply passionate about. I believe that music has the power to bring people together, and I am excited about the opportunity to use my skills to foster a sense of unity and togetherness within the congregation.
In addition to my professional qualifications, I also have a personal connection to the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter. I have been a member of your congregation for the past three years and have been thoroughly impressed by the welcoming and inclusive community that you have created. It would be an honor and a privilege to join your team and contribute to the growth and success of the music program.
Thank you for considering my application. I am excited about the opportunity to bring my skills, passion, and experience to the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my qualifications further.
Sincerely,
Chris Humphrey
