Dear Diplomatic Service of the EU,
I am writing to express my interest in the Funded Traineeship for Young Graduates at the EU Delegation to Zambia and COMESA, as advertised on your website. As a recent graduate with a strong passion for international relations and diplomacy, I believe that this position at the European Union would provide me with the perfect opportunity to kickstart my career in this field.
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Marta Enríquez Zulategui and I have recently completed my Bachelor's degree in International Relations with a specialization in European Studies. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a deep understanding of the European Union and its role in global affairs. I have also gained valuable knowledge and skills in areas such as political analysis, communication, and research, which I believe would make me a valuable asset to the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Zambia.
What particularly interests me about this position is the opportunity to work in a dynamic and multicultural environment, representing the European Union in a developing country. I have always been fascinated by the EU's role in promoting democracy, human rights, and sustainable development across the globe. Being a part of the EU Delegation to Zambia would not only allow me to contribute to these goals but also provide me with a unique learning experience and a chance to broaden my perspective on international affairs.
Furthermore, I am drawn to the traineeship program at the EU Delegation due to its focus on professional and personal development. I am eager to learn from experienced diplomats and experts, and I am confident that this traineeship will provide me with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in my future career. Moreover, the opportunity to work closely with the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Zambia, which deals with a wide range of political and social issues, would be invaluable in shaping my understanding of international relations and diplomacy.
I am particularly interested in the location of the traineeship, as Zambia has been a country that has always captivated me. I am drawn to its rich culture, diverse landscapes, and its role as a regional hub in Southern Africa. As someone who is fluent in English, Spanish, and French, I am confident that I will be able to adapt quickly to the linguistic and cultural aspects of the country. Moreover, my previous experience studying and interning abroad has equipped me with the flexibility and adaptability to thrive in new environments.
I am also confident that my skills and experiences make me a strong candidate for this traineeship. During my time at university, I have been actively involved in various extracurricular activities, such as Model United Nations and European Youth Parliament, where I have honed my public speaking and negotiation skills. I have also completed internships at international organizations, including the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, where I have gained practical experience in research, analysis, and project management. These experiences have also allowed me to work in diverse and multicultural teams, which I believe is crucial in a globalized world.
In addition to my academic and professional experiences, I am also passionate about social and environmental issues. I have been actively involved in volunteering projects, such as organizing fundraising events for NGOs and advocating for sustainable practices in my community. I strongly believe that the European Union's values of solidarity, sustainability, and human rights align with my personal values, and I am eager to contribute to their promotion through this traineeship.
In conclusion, I am highly motivated and enthusiastic about the prospect of joining the EU Delegation to Zambia and COMESA as a trainee. I am confident that my academic background, language skills, and experiences make me a strong candidate for this position. I am eager to learn, grow and contribute to the work of the European Union in Zambia, and I am convinced that this traineeship will be a mutually beneficial experience.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my qualifications further.
Sincerely,
Marta Enríquez Zulategui
