In addition, my role as a Research Assistant to Dr. Marissa Brookes in the Political Science Department at UCR has further developed my skills in reviewing, summarizing, and documenting relevant literature. I have also maintained a database of all research activities for a Labor Market Analysis of the Inland Empire for California Jobs First. This experience has given me a deep understanding of policy issues and the ability to analyze and present complex information in a clear and concise manner. Furthermore, I have a strong background in community engagement and outreach, demonstrated through my role as a Peer Mentor in the TRIO Scholars Program at UCR. I have guided first-generation college students in adjusting to college and building trust through one-on-one meetings throughout the school year. This experience has not only allowed me to develop strong interpersonal skills but also taught me the importance of building relationships and fostering a sense of community. Additionally, I have experience working with the BASIC NEEDS Department at UCR as an R'Pantry Intern. In this role, I collaborated with a team of 20 students to provide exceptional customer service and support referrals to students and staff experiencing food insecurities. I also maintained detailed records and documentation pertaining to departmental duties, which has developed my organizational and multitasking abilities. Furthermore, my experience as a Fellow at R'Garden through the COLLEGE CORPS Fellowship Program at UCR has given me a strong understanding of sustainable food systems and the importance of community involvement. I have managed garden plots, addressed plot owner concerns, and facilitated smooth communication between R'Garden and R'Pantry to ensure timely produce delivery and pick up. I have also organized educational events to raise awareness about local food systems and distributed crops with a smile. These experiences have not only allowed me to develop my leadership skills but also taught me the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving common goals. Moreover, my previous role as a Media Operator in the Information Technology Department at UCR has honed my technical skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service. I have provided technical support to professors and teaching assistants in person and via phone, ensuring smooth hardware and software operation through effective communication. I have also organized and set up advanced technology for special events and recorded high-quality videos of campus moments. This experience has not only developed my technical skills but also taught me the importance of attention to detail and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Lastly, my experience as a Homework Coach at the San Diego Central Library has given me the opportunity to work with low-income and immigrant individuals, providing homework help, school project assistance, and language support. This experience has taught me the importance of empathy, cultural sensitivity, and effective communication, which are essential skills in a community-based role. In addition to my skills and experiences, I am also multilingual, fluent in English, French, Swahili, and Lingala. This has allowed me to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and bridge any language barriers.
