Desk Assistants II are responsible for providing support to all professional staff in within every entity/village in housing. The Desk Assistants II position is essential for both summer and academic seasons. General responsibilities are similar; however, this position will spend summer seasons supporting efforts to host conferencing, support professional staff in turning the facilities, and supporting the department in preparing for fall occupancy. After the student participates in DSA and HRE-specific training he/she should possess knowledge of the basic processes and procedures of Housing and Residential Education and the Division of Student Affairs.   This position will also require customer service including assisting with student and staff inquiries in person and on the phone and various other general duties. The candidate must be prepared to serve a diverse population of residents from any of the villages. The Desk Assistant II is stationed in the Main Housing Office, he/she may be asked to assist with administrative tasks and assignments including fielding inquiries about residential status and room assignments and questions related to residential financial status. This person should be extremely organized and able to use resources effectively. Additionally, the candidate will work beside other Desk Assistants and Lead Desk Assistants to complete and/or work on tasks and assignments that are delegated by the Lead Desk Assistants and/or professional staff members. Desk Assistant may be asked to provide weekly flash reports to the Lead Desk Assistant. The Desk Assistants II should maintain a strong work ethic and be able to work relatively independently with moderate instruction from the Lead Desk Assistant, and/or a professional staff member in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects per day. The Desk Assistant I should assist both professional and peer student staff to ensure that any office he/she is working in is functional and provides optimal customer service.  Required Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Skills: Applicants for this position must be in good academic and behavioral standing with the University and a current resident of Anacapa, Santa Rosa, Town Center or Santa Cruz Village during the academic year.
