My name is Abdelseed Ibrahim and I hold a PhD in Dental Public Health from National Ribat University in Sudan, an MSc in Dental Public Health from University of the Western Cape in South Africa, and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences. Throughout my career, I have worked in various positions within the Ministry of Health in Khartoum State, Sudan, eventually rising to the top management position of Director of Oral Health Directorate. In this role, I was responsible for the implementation and management of the School Oral Health Care Program, as well as the Oral Health Care Program for Pregnant Women attending Public Dental Clinics and Centers and Hospitals in Khartoum State. I have also played a significant role in the development of the Oral Health Education Guide for basic school children in Khartoum State.
In addition to my administrative experience, I have also served as a lecturer in several dental faculties in Sudan and have supervised master students in public health and dental public health. I am also an examiner in the same master program and have mentored undergraduate and postgraduate students in choosing their research topics and writing their proposals and theses in the field of dental public health and public health. My academic experience has honed my skills in research, critical thinking, and problem-solving, which I believe will be valuable in my role as Oral Health Program Leader at Children's Wisconsin.
One of the main reasons I am drawn to this position at Children's Wisconsin is the organization's commitment to providing quality healthcare to children. As a parent myself, I understand the importance of early and proper oral health care in children, and I am passionate about promoting and improving oral health in this vulnerable population. I am also impressed by Children's Wisconsin's mission to provide the best care to every child, regardless of their ability to pay. This aligns with my personal values of equity and access to healthcare for all.
In terms of my skills and qualifications, I am familiar with various software programs such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher, as well as project management software like MS Project and EndNote. I also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, which I have honed through my experience as a lecturer and public speaker. I am a highly organized and detail-oriented individual, which allows me to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of staff and a range of personalities, cultures, and working styles. I also have experience in liaising and negotiating with both dental and non-dental staff, internally and externally, which I believe will be valuable in my role as Oral Health Program Leader.
As a leader, I am adept at making staffing decisions, handling administrative responsibilities, and recruiting and training team members. I am also skilled in establishing and maintaining relationships with external organizations, such as social services, voluntary groups, and the private sector. In my previous role, I have successfully participated in the establishment of mechanisms for referral and control of access to oral health services, procurement of materials and equipment for the oral health directorate, facility development and maintenance, monitoring patient satisfaction and population oral health indicators, and setting budgets and maintaining finances within tight constraints. I am also experienced in negotiating funding agreements with government representatives and enforcing oral health legislation, regulations, and standards.
In terms of location, I would prefer to work in West Allis, WI, as I am drawn to the vibrant community and the opportunities it offers for personal and professional growth. I am also excited about the prospect of working with a diverse team and serving the children and families of this community.
