Internal Communications: • Lead the development and execution of internal communication plans to effectively position

including presentations
speeches

and media releases
while identifying high-impact messaging opportunities aligned with the IPC's vision. • Offer strategic advice to senior management on communication initiatives and emerging issues
and develop metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies
providing recommendations for improvement. Media Relations: • Collaborate with the IPC communications team
subject matter experts
assistant commissioners
and the commissioner to support media relations programs. • Manages media responses
arranges and supports interviews
and prioritizes media inquiries as part of the IPC's media relations team. • Organizes media releases
pitches stories to journalists
writes and edits media advisories
news releases
backgrounders
statements
and op-eds. • Develops relationships with key media outlets
maintains a database of key messages
monitors and reports on media activities
and prepares daily news How do I qualify? You will qualify for this position by demonstrating: Education and Experience • University degree in communications
journalism
public relations or an equivalent combination of relevant post-secondary education and years of experience in communications. • A solid understanding of effective communications techniques
trends
and tactics to reach target audiences and strong research and analytical skills. • Understanding of best practices with regards to employee engagement and change communication. • Familiarity with Ontario's access and privacy laws and an interest in freedom of information and privacy issues. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: • Ability to influence and build collaborative relationships across a spectrum of interested parties both internal and external to the IPC. • Strong communications planning and media relations skills
with experience developing
executing
and evaluating creative communications strategies with measurable results. • Superior written
verbal
and editing skills with considerable experience writing key messages. • Ability to communicate with diverse audiences and synthesize complex ideas into plain language. Familiarity with Canadian Press style. • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of discretion and professionalism. IT and Organizational Skills • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products
including strong PowerPoint skills. • Experience with media monitoring tools and platforms such as Cision
as well as tracking emerging issues through web and social media. • Deadline-oriented
