Dear Whomever this may concern,
I am interested in applying for the position of Policy Intern at Action on Smoking and Health. This position interests me because of my interest in public policy and my desire to work on behalf of a cause I am passionate about.
I am a recent graduate of Smith College, where I majored in Government. My coursework focused on public policy, which I believe has prepared me well for this position. I am also a proficient researcher and writer, which I believe will be valuable in this role.
In addition to my academic qualifications, I have also been involved in advocacy work around the issue of tobacco control. I have interned with the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, where I researched state tobacco control laws and assisted with grassroots organizing. I have also volunteered with the American Lung Association, where I helped with their annual tobacco prevention campaign.
I am confident that I have the skills and qualifications that would make me a successful Policy Intern at Action on Smoking and Health. I am committed to the cause of tobacco control and I am eager to put my skills to work on behalf of your organization.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Abigail MacLellan
