Hello HR Manager, I am Mohammed Amirul Islam and I am writing to apply for the position of Microbiology Lab Technician at A&L Canada Laboratories in London, ON. I am a highly skilled and experienced Microbiology Technician with more than 5 years of experience working in human risk group level -1 and level -2 pathogenic bacteria and virus (BSL-2/CL-2). I have also isolated and cultured several CL-2 pathogenic bacteria (i.e. E. coli O157, L. monocytogenes, L. pneumophila, S. aeurus, S. enterica, S. sonnei, C. jejuni, C. perfringens, B. cereus etc.) in liquid and solid medium. I am also experienced in PCR and qPCR, and have used these techniques to amplify targeted bacterial and viral (SARS-COV-2) genes. I have also extracted bacterial genomic DNA and viral RNA using different extraction kits, and have performed cDNA synthesis. I am also experienced in purifying DNA and RNA using silica columns and magnetic beads. In addition, I have performed Nano-drop measurement for quantifying DNA and RNA. I am also experienced in DGGE, and have used this technique to measure DNA band size and gene amplicon analysis. I am also experienced in SDS-PAGE, and have used this technique to analyze and quantify protein. I am also experienced in ELISA, and have used this technique to perform antibody-based bacteria detection. I have a sound theoretical and interpretation knowledge of several analytical techniques, such as UV-vis spectrophotometry, micro-plate reader, zeta potential, chromatography (thin layer, ion exchange, GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC), TGA, FT-IR, XPS, and surface water contact angle measurement. I am also experienced in microscopy, and have used and handled different types of microscopes, such as CLSM, FESEM, SEM, TEM, AFM, HIM, fluorescence, and optical microscopy for microbial (i.e. yeast, bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae) identification and structure analysis, biofilm visualization, substrates roughness and nanoparticles size analysis. I am also experienced in biorecognition ligands and bio-functionalization, and have functionalized Gold (Au) electrode, GaAs wafer, magnetic, Fe and Au nanoparticles surfaces with various bio-ligands, such as antimicrobial peptides (AMP), antibody (Ab), aptamers. I am also experienced in nanoparticles, and have synthesized and functionalized Gold (Au) and magnetic nano-particles with various biorecognition ligands. I am also experienced in bio-electrochemistry, and have performed electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), tafel plot analysis (TFA), Linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and Chronoamerometry (CA) analysis for electrochemical characterization of samples. I am also experienced in fermentation, and have designed and worked with small (100 mL) and medium scale (10 L) yeast and bacteria fermentation reactor for extracting several value added plat-form chemicals, such as lipid, PHA, PHB, biodiesel, acetic acid, butyric acid, bio-hydrogen etc. from different microbes. I am a highly skilled and experienced Microbiology Technician, and I am confident that I would be a valuable asset to your company. I am eager to utilize my skills and experience in a full-time role at A&L Canada Laboratories, and I am willing to relocate to London, ON. Thank you for your time and consideration.
