Portfolio Accounting Analyst

Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Accounting & Reporting, the Portfolio Accounting Analyst is responsible for investment accounting functions for the public portfolio including publicly traded securities, public loans, hedge funds and derivative instruments, preparing valuation and payable/receivable entries, identifying valuation deviations, performing monthly reconciliations, quarterly fee accrual analysis for public funds, and assisting with annual audit reports and financial statement note disclosures.

Perform investment accounting and reconciliation for the CMPA's public portfolio, ensure valuation accuracy, manage cash flows and custodial reconciliations, and support reporting and audit processes.

Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Accounting & Reporting, the Portfolio Accounting Analyst is responsible for investment accounting functions for the public portfolio including publicly traded securities, public loans, hedge funds and derivative instruments, preparing valuation and payable/receivable entries, identifying valuation deviations, performing monthly reconciliations, quarterly fee accrual analysis for public funds, and assisting with annual audit reports and financial statement note disclosures.Requirements:<ul><li> Minimum 4 year Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent field of study</li><li> Successful completion of an accounting designation (CPA) and/or CFA designation is required</li><li> Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in brokerage, banking, or investment-related industry with back-office experience</li><li> Experience in accounting for investments including portfolio reconciliations and pricing of swaps and forward contracts</li><li> Familiarity with the custodian function and reconciliation of custodian accounts to external manager</li><li> Good understanding of fixed income, public loans, hedge funds, swaps, forward contracts and private equity funds</li><li> Desire to maintain current knowledge of investment research, trends, and directions for public and private assets</li><li> Experience working with accounting system applications (Workday Financials would be an asset)</li><li> Experience working with high volumes of transactions within tight deadlines</li><li> Ability to meet established deadlines and prioritize work</li><li> Strong interpersonal communication skills to deal with internal and external contacts</li><li> Superior attention to detail and accuracy</li><li> Ability to adapt to change and learn new things quickly</li><li> Advanced computer skills, specifically Excel and database applications</li><li> Ability to work independently and as part of a team and set priorities in a multi-tasked environment</li><li> Strong verbal and written communication skills in English</li><li> Ability to handle confidential information with discretion</li><li> Ability to take initiative, use sound judgement, and remain professional while attending to multiple priorities</li></ul>Benefits:<ul><li> Fully remote work from a home-based office in Ontario or Québec</li><li> Eligible for a bonus</li><li> Support and accommodation in recruitment processes for applicants living with disabilities</li><li> Equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives and inclusive culture</li></ul>
