Description
- Restate is building a lightweight runtime for durable execution used by enterprise and AI companies.
- The Frontend Engineer will own the frontend end-to-end: architecting, building, and shipping the product UI that surfaces execution timelines, retries, queues, state, failures and large live datasets.
- The role focuses on data-at-scale interfaces, low perceived latency, safe rendering of untrusted content, strong interaction models (keyboard navigation, deep links, state persistence), and growing a shared component library.
- The engineer will work closely with design and the founding team, iterating from sketches to production, and ensuring the UI remains coherent as the product scales.

Requirements
- Several years of experience with React and TypeScript on large, complex applications
- Experience profiling and fixing performance issues: slow rendering, long lists, wasted re-renders, bundle size optimization
- Experience building data-intensive interfaces: pagination, virtualization, filtering, search, and charts on real data
- Knowledge of data fetching and client state: caching, invalidation, polling, streaming, optimistic updates
- Security awareness for rendering untrusted content, auth, sessions, and dependency hygiene
- Strong information design skills for dense views that remain clear
- Accessibility expertise: semantics, focus management, keyboard navigation, assistive technology
- Ability to read API specs, queries, and backend code and collaborate across the stack
- Testing experience: unit and end-to-end testing with good judgment about test value
- Daily use of AI tools and ability to discern when AI output is unreliable
- Willingness to work closely with design and push interaction models (keyboard navigation, deep links, state that survives refresh)
