Description
- PawaPay is a pan‑African fintech facilitating payments across multiple African markets.
- The Compliance Officer will own execution of merchant due diligence, transaction monitoring investigations and screening for an assigned portfolio, applying internal policy and regulatory requirements.
- Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and verifying merchant KYC documentation, investigating monitoring alerts, running PEP and sanctions screening and enhanced due diligence for high-risk merchants, conducting ongoing monitoring of merchant compliance, preparing compliance reports and supporting audits, identifying process improvement opportunities, and tracking regulatory change across African markets.
- The role is part of the Compliance Operations team and focuses on operational casework rather than policy-setting or team management.
