Description
- The Principal Software Development Engineer at ID.me will play an instrumental role in shaping the digital account experience for over 100 million customers and building the identity layer of the internet.
- The role focuses on designing and building a next-generation vendor orchestration platform to manage multiple biometric services, with a particular emphasis on facial recognition technology.
- Responsibilities include applying facial recognition technology to real-world applications, designing scalable products, leading technical excellence, and influencing the company's long-term vision.
- The role requires collaboration with product management, external vendors, and internal teams, and involves overseeing end-to-end deliverables, mentoring, and technical leadership.
- The position is based out of Mountain View, CA or McLean, VA, and requires full-time in-office attendance.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- At least one year of experience in biometric modalities such as facial recognition, fingerprint analysis, iris scanning, or voice recognition, including development, optimization, and deployment of related algorithms or systems.
- At least 15 years developing web applications using Java, Ruby, Javascript, Go, Python, or C++.
- Excellent leadership and mentorship abilities with strong communication skills.
- Solid understanding of web technologies, frameworks, APIs, databases, queues, and caching systems.
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud native services, containers, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with automated testing, observability, monitoring, and alerting.
- Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, data retention, and data governance.
- Experience working in startup environments.
- Proven contributions to biometrics, such as research papers or patents.
- Experience with account management and user data lifecycle management.
- Experience with Hashicorp Nomad, Vault, Consul, Terraform.
