The Principal Network & Security Engineer is responsible for the management, lifecycle operations, and security of the organization’s Cisco-based networking infrastructure.
This individual will lead the administration, configuration, monitoring, and ongoing optimization of core network systems and platforms, as well as apply best practices in security management.
The role combines technical operational management of critical Cisco platforms with broad information security responsibilities across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
Responsibilities include administering Cisco infrastructure, executing software/firmware upgrades, ensuring network segmentation and secure access, managing remote access solutions, deploying detection tools, overseeing web application security, monitoring network telemetry, investigating incidents, supporting DDoS and threat protection, designing secure architectures, participating in vulnerability management, contributing to security operations, developing documentation, enabling automation, and mentoring staff.
The role requires a strong understanding of enterprise networking, security, cloud fundamentals, scripting, and compliance, with relevant certifications preferred.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience with enterprise networking and security, with significant hands-on Cisco platform management.
Strong understanding of network firewalls, perimeter defense, and intrusion detection/prevention.
Experience configuring and troubleshooting network access control systems and policies.
Familiarity with cloud platform security fundamentals (AWS, Azure, or GCP) in hybrid environments.
Practical knowledge of software, firmware, and patch management for large-scale infrastructure.
Proficiency in troubleshooting layer 2/3 networking, VPNs, and secure remote access solutions.
Experience with application delivery controllers and web application security.
Ability to analyze network/endpoint telemetry and investigate security events or performance issues.
Skills in scripting or automation for network/security management.
Hands-on experience supporting vulnerability management and compliance.
High attention to detail, documentation, and change management practices.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
Willingness to stay current on security threats and industry best practices.
