Amidon Jewelers has been serving the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont for more than 75 years. Our first jewelry store was established in 1935 right in downtown Hanover, NH. Since that time we have served our loyal guests for all of their jewelry needs. The company is locally owned by Steve Doubleday and Katie Goode. For decades Amidon has been the trusted jeweler for the finest diamonds and engagement rings. We also offer expert jewelry repair from our highly skilled in-house craftsman as well as watch repair services and pearl restringing. Additionally we provide engraving services to many local schools and colleges around the Upper Valley and engrave on frames, plaques and inside rings for our guests' special occasions. Description
- Amidon Heavy Industries builds autonomous systems for offshore work, focusing on uncrewed surface vessels and subsea inspection.
- The Software Engineer, Simulation, will develop and maintain simulation environments for autonomous vessels, modeling vessel dynamics, sensors, and environmental effects.
- Responsibilities include developing sensor models, building ROS2 interfaces, creating tools for testing, analyzing simulation vs. real-world data, and ensuring simulation is integral to development workflows.
- Qualifications include a degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or related fields, 1-3 years of experience in robotics simulation, proficiency in C++ and Python, experience with ROS2, and familiarity with simulation platforms like Gazebo, Webots, Unity, or Unreal.
- Bonus points for marine robotics background, sensor modeling experience, visualization tools, embedded systems knowledge, and SIL/HIL testing experience.

Requirements
- Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 1–3 years of experience (or equivalent project work) in robotics simulation, autonomy testing, or related software development
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Python in a Linux environment
- Hands-on experience with ROS2, including nodes, messages, launch systems, and debugging tools
- Experience with at least one robotics simulation or visualization platform such as Gazebo/Ignition, Webots, Unity, or Unreal Engine
- Familiarity with modeling sensors such as cameras, lidar, sonar, GNSS, and IMU, and understanding their data characteristics and limitations
