  • The Working Families Party (WFP) is seeking a Director of Safety & Security to lead and strengthen organizational safety and defense during a pivotal period for the movement, especially ahead of the 2026 general election.
  • The role involves managing digital and physical security, coordinating response strategies to threats, leading the Security Working Group, and supporting staff safety practices.
  • The candidate will work closely with various internal teams and external partners, develop security policies, conduct risk assessments, and stay current on emerging threats.
  • The position requires at least 5 years of experience in security or organizational operations within progressive or political settings, strong digital security expertise, and a commitment to social justice causes.
  • The salary range is $95,900 - $161,000 annually, with a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement options, paid time off, and remote work support.

Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in organizational operations, security, community safety, or comparable work within progressive, political settings.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience stewarding partnerships or participating in coalitions in the progressive or broader movement ecosystem.
  • Some experience delivering effective trainings for diverse learners.
  • Supervision experience or demonstrated ability to guide and train managers and director-level staff.
  • Experience providing rapid response support to individuals or organizations experiencing security, harassment, or violence-related crises.
  • Strong background in digital security, data privacy, and remote workplace technology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to racial justice, LGBTQ liberation, and gender justice.
  • Experience handling highly sensitive and confidential information with utmost discretion.
  • Understanding of security culture and strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Ability to act courageously and compassionately when delivering difficult information or making rapid decisions.
  • Exceptional project management skills with experience leading mixed teams of staff and consultants.
  • Strong verbal, written, relational, and cross-departmental communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, emotional intelligence, and proactive communication.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and follow-through skills in complex environments.
