Description
  • Manages complex, high-visibility Extension and outreach projects of medium to large scope for the Agricultural Economics and Range, Wildlife and Fisheries programs.
  • Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, publications, digital content, and stakeholder engagement initiatives that advance production agriculture economics across Texas and beyond.
  • Oversees project timelines, budgets, deliverables, grant development, and team performance while maximizing program impact, scholarly outputs, and national recognition for faculty and the unit.
  • Defines project mission, vision, and strategic goals; aligns initiatives with unit, AgriLife, and land-grant priorities; identifies and engages key stakeholders (producers, agribusiness, policymakers, commodity groups, and peer institutions).
  • Manages multiple concurrent project portfolios using contemporary project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum when appropriate); tracks budgets, timelines, milestones, and deliverables; prepares periodic progress reports and impact evaluations for leadership and funders.
  • Coordinates human, financial, and physical resources across multiple specialists, county agents, and external partners.
  • Supervises and mentors project staff and student workers.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates innovative Extension programs (workshops, short courses, field days, webinars, certificate programs, multi-state collaborations) focused on production agriculture economics, risk management, marketing, finance, and policy.
  • Creates and implements social media strategies (X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok) to grow audience reach, engagement, and program brand recognition.
  • Produces short-form video content, infographics, podcasts, and live broadcasts.
  • Develops and maintains blogs, websites, newsletters, and email campaigns; manages content calendars and analytics.
  • Writes, edits, and produces high-quality Extension products including fact sheets, guides, articles, peer-reviewed publications, grant reports, and impact statements.
  • Leads grant proposal development, identifies funding opportunities, writes narratives and budgets, manages teams, and handles post-award reporting.
  • Designs and executes survey instruments and applied research projects; manages data collection, analysis, and visualization.
  • Oversees technical editing, graphic design, video production, and web development for all publications and digital resources.
  • Tracks and reports program impacts using KPIs such as reach, engagement, knowledge change, practice adoption, economic benefit, media mentions, and peer citations.
  • Prepares impact reports and success stories for donors, legislators, and national systems.
  • Represents the unit at conferences and builds collaborative relationships with other institutions and agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

🎯

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural related field with coursework in animal science, farm and ranch management, agricultural marketing, finance, and/or policy.
  • Seven years of related professional experience in project management, Extension programming, agricultural communications, or applied agricultural economics.
