  • ServiceNow is seeking a Director, Government Affairs and Public Policy Lead – Canada, a senior-level position responsible for leading government affairs strategy and engagement across all levels of government in Canada, primarily focusing on the federal government.
  • The role involves building relationships with policymakers, regulators, and industry associations to advance policy priorities in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, digital government, and data governance.
  • The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to company executives, providing strategic insights on political, policy, and regulatory developments impacting ServiceNow’s operations and growth in Canada.
  • Key responsibilities include leading engagement with federal, provincial, and municipal governments, maintaining relationships with Members of Parliament and provincial counterparts, advising on regulatory risks and opportunities, representing ServiceNow in industry forums, supporting internal sales teams, shaping public policy in line with company strategy, and acting as a thought leader in high-level policy discussions.
  • The role also involves developing policy campaigns, white papers, and executive briefings, providing policy analysis, and supporting procurement and government priorities.
  • The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of senior experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory roles within Canada, bilingual in English and French, with proven experience working with the federal government, strong understanding of Canada’s policy-making process, and expertise in technology policy related to AI, digital transformation, and data regulation.
  • They should have established networks with policymakers, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and an advanced degree in law, political science, or related fields.
  • Willingness to travel within Canada and occasionally to the U.S. is required.

Requirements
  • Minimum 10-15 years of senior-level experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory roles within the tech sector, consulting, trade associations, or government institutions within Canada.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required.
  • Proven experience working in or with the federal government, including Parliament, ministerial offices, or central agencies, including demonstrated ability to influence complex multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Strong understanding of Canada’s policy-making process, including legislative, regulatory, and Cabinet decision-making.
  • Track record of engaging with C-suite executives and cabinet-level officials on public policy matters.
  • Expertise in technology policy, particularly related to AI governance, digital transformation, and data regulation.
  • Established network and credibility with federal and provincial policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute government relations strategies that support business and policy objectives.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical and writing abilities, including experience preparing policy briefs, submissions, and executive briefings.
  • Advanced degree in law, political science, international affairs, economics, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to travel within Canada and occasionally to the United States.
  • Existing relationships with government officials and policymakers at the highest levels.
  • Extensive experience developing policy white papers and thought leadership for the public sector and/or regulated industries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including experience speaking at major global policy conferences and leading official engagements.
  • Eagerness to learn, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to “dream big.”
