Description
- The Space Systems Engineer at Planet Labs is responsible for supporting daily satellite operations, analyzing data, troubleshooting anomalies, running on-orbit experiments, and deploying software both on the ground and in orbit.
- The role involves developing real-time software solutions, writing scripts for data aggregation, and creating operational procedures to improve fleet capacity and efficiency.
- The engineer will work closely with hardware and software teams to debug issues, enhance services, and shape operational strategies for next-generation satellites.
- This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week in the San Francisco office, with a focus on automation, data analysis, and operational support for Planet's Earth Observation satellite constellation.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent
- 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience in software development, particularly in Python or similar languages
- Familiarity with the space environment and its challenges
- Data-driven mindset with experience in statistical analysis
- Proactive approach to engineering and problem-solving
- Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills within a technical team
