Description
  • The Senior Director, Marketing (Campus & Experiences) at the National Geographic Society is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing marketing strategies for various public-facing programs, including the Museum of Exploration, National Geographic Live, Traveling Exhibitions, and Storytellers Collective.
  • The role involves leading a team, managing budgets, coordinating multi-channel campaigns, and collaborating with internal and external partners to increase attendance, revenue, and audience engagement.
  • The position also focuses on brand development, channel strategy, and ensuring marketing efforts align with the Society’s mission to inspire and protect the wonder of the world.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or business (credentials in related fields a plus).
  • 12+ years of experience in destination, museum, live entertainment, and experiential marketing.
  • 5+ years of management experience.
  • Strong experience developing and managing full funnel marketing strategies.
  • Experience in destination-based marketing and partnering with CVBs.
  • Familiarity with customer data segmentation, targeting, and technology.
  • Experience developing retail pricing strategies and packages.
  • Experience buying and planning media and managing agencies.
  • Experience with local media promotions and trade arrangements.
  • Experience executing experiential marketing.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of current marketing trends, digital strategy, and customer engagement.
  • Ability to leverage traditional and digital marketing tactics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and translate business goals into marketing activities.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using surveys, analytics, and research.
  • Strong project and budget management skills.
