  • Job Summary
  • Advance Metroparks Toledo’s core conservation mission by preparation and oversight of major maintenance and capital improvement projects in order to create world-class facilities and maintain existing Metroparks’ infrastructure to the highest professional standards.
  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage major maintenance projects and small capital projects. Provide project management support of large capital projects.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and cost estimates. Ensures adherence to budget and established financial controls.
  • Execute, update, and communicate the master project schedule and manage its implementation, including permitting and entitlement activities, grant deadlines and due diligence items. Complete project checklist form for all self-perform, capital and major maintenance projects.
  • Conduct scope, fee and contract negotiations with consultants, vendors and contractors for assigned projects; prepare and enter into contracts for professional services and construction projects and route through legal and financial reviews.
  • Manage due diligence for projects (geotechnical studies, land title review, building and site condition, environmental) and obtain necessary permits.
  • Meet with contractors, engineers, architects and park officials to execute projects and ensure compliance with established plans and specifications; schedule and attend progress meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate purchasing for assigned construction and maintenance projects; research materials, estimate quantities, obtain bids/quotes – including RFP and RFQ processes, and evaluate materials.
  • Oversight and coordination on site during construction for compliance, troubleshooting, management of the projects.
  • Develop and manage the district-wide planning and construction project closeout process; attend all construction closeout walks and inspections for projects.
  • Assist with preparation of design plans and specifications for major maintenance and small capital projects.
  • Maintain professional contacts with other municipalities, utility companies, regulatory agencies, research bodies, equipment manufacturers, and professional organizations concerning maintenance management systems and long term maintenance planning.

  • Park vehicles, including utility vehicles and trucks
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Schedule: 40 hour work-week that may require work in the evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Home Work Location: Fallen Timbers Field Office with regular visitation of active construction sites throughout the district in all weather conditions
  • May require business use of personal vehicle for frequent travel between Metroparks locations
  • Limited (<10%) travel outside Lucas County
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds frequently

🎯

Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture or a related field.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of progressive experience in construction management.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-hour, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications required and can be attained within 1 year. Complete ODOT LPA training modules within 3 months.
