Description

- The Senior Software Engineer will focus on server-side development, guiding the design and evolution of backend systems, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
- Responsibilities include leading backend application development, defining technical architecture, conducting security reviews, championing automated testing, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across teams.
- The role requires deep expertise in database engineering, particularly PostgreSQL, and service development, with experience in TCP/UDP socket communication, APIs (gRPC, REST), and performance tuning.
- The position is based in the UK, with a focus on building secure, reliable healthcare software, and involves working in a regulated industry with standards like DICOM and HL7.

Requirements
- BSc/BEng in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of server-side software engineering experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience with SQL platforms, preferably PostgreSQL or Sybase
- Expert-level experience developing Windows/Linux service applications, preferably using C++
- Experience designing and implementing TCP/UDP socket communications
- Experience developing remote procedure APIs using gRPC, RESTful, or similar technologies
- Strong background in performance analysis, memory optimization, and system tuning
- Ability to interpret and document complex technical information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in regulated industries such as healthcare, finance, or legal services (preferred)
- Additional programming languages: JavaScript/TypeScript, Tcl, Python, PHP, C#, C++/CLI (preferred)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes (preferred)
- Strong understanding of Linux OS and shell scripting (preferred)
- Familiarity with healthcare standards like DICOM and HL7 (preferred)
- Membership in professional bodies such as BCS (preferred)
- MSc/MEng in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
- Right to work in the UK or eligibility for UK work authorization
