Description
  • At Trees for the Future (TREES), the People and Culture Manager in Kenya is responsible for fostering a farmer-focused and equitable work environment, managing the full employment lifecycle, and advising on strategic HR topics.
  • The role includes enforcing policies, leading onboarding and offboarding, maintaining HR analytics, promoting staff engagement, addressing employee concerns, workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, training, and benefits administration.
  • The manager works closely with the Global People and Culture team, ensures compliance with Kenyan employment requirements, and supports a positive, inclusive, and productive organizational culture.
  • The position is based in Kisumu and reports to the Director of Finance and Operations, Kenya.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience/education; a master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible HR management experience in similarly sized operation.
  • Experience running country People and Culture operations, with a proper track record of modern people management.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM, HRCI, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
  • IT proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and capacity to learn HRIS systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Kiswahili; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
  • Experience in HR policies, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and HRIS maintenance.
