Description
- The Detection Engineering and Threat Hunting team at Datadog builds high-signal detection content, partnering with internal stakeholders and leveraging Datadog’s security products to enhance detection and response capabilities.
- As a Threat Detection Engineer II, you will source detection content from diverse data, especially cloud-native datasets and workload runtime events, to detect threats in near real-time.
- You will identify detection coverage opportunities across cloud platforms, SaaS, endpoint, and network technologies, researching attacker techniques and applying data-driven insights to generate security signals for incident response teams.
- The role emphasizes collaboration in a hybrid work environment, with responsibilities including threat detection in cloud-native environments, operationalizing telemetry, responding to threats, and creating automation tools.
- The ideal candidate has a background in detection or cloud security engineering, experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform), Linux internals, programming (Python, Golang), and security controls measurement.

Requirements
- Previous background in detection engineering, cloud security engineering, or other operational security functions.
- Experience operating in at least one public cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform.
- Understanding of modern cloud-native attacker techniques and technical controls.
- Proficient understanding of Linux internals and telemetry for threat detection at runtime.
- Experience detecting threats at scale using various technologies and datasets.
- Proficiency with Python, Golang, or other programming languages.
- Ability to measure the effectiveness of security controls and make data-driven decisions.
