Description
  • The Assistant Director works under the supervision of the Aspen Opera Theatre & VocalARTS (AOTVA) Production Manager to provide support for AOTVA director(s) and artistic staff. The AOTVA program is under the co-artistic direction of Renée Fleming and Patrick Summers at the Aspen Music Festival & School (AMFS). The upcoming season will utilize the AMFS orchestras, the 2,050 seat Klein Music Tent, and Historic Wheeler Opera House throughout an encompassing 8-week summer season. This season’s mainstage productions will be Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Mozart’s Magic Flute.
  • Responsibilities include attending rehearsals, performances, and meetings, preparing scores and notes, assisting in scheduling, liaising between directors and staff, providing administrative support, and participating in pre-production meetings.
  • The role requires proven ability to assist staff efficiently, flexibility, creativity, strong interpersonal and administrative skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, experience with ArtsVision is a plus, and prior opera AD or stage management experience is preferred. Candidates must be motivated, have a sense of humor, be able to lift up to 30 lbs., and climb stairs and ladders comfortably.
