Commercial Health Junior Actuary

We are seeking a junior-level Actuary with strong analytic and reporting skills. This role reports to the Chief Actuary. The ideal candidate will be an Actuary who has experience with pricing for large group commercial products and is comfortable with interpreting underlying claims experience for various groups. Experience with trend analysis, pricing analysis, network discount studies, and managing quote requests is also required. While this is a remote role, you must reside in the United States and in the Eastern or Central time zone.

Multi-tasking and a "roll up your sleeves" attitude are very much a must.

- Reporting and Analysis: Assist with report development and analysis (pricing/experience/trends) that helps to inform the actuarial side of the business.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate and analyze health insurance applications to determine the risk they pose, helping to set premium rates that are both fair and competitive.
- Claims Analysis: Interpret and analyze underlying claims experience to inform underwriting decisions and policy adjustments.
- Policy Development: Assist in the development of insurance policies or suggest changes to existing policies that balance the needs of market with the risk to the insurance company.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with changes in legislation and regulations that may affect the product design and underwriting considerations.
- Quote Requests: Assist with the management of quote requests.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of policies underwritten and decisions made, tracking concessions and experience.

Experience and Skills Desired
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Credentials: Professional actuarial credentials (e.g., ASA, FSA) or credentials in progress are required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a commercial health actuary department (not Medicare, Medicaid, or individual market/ACA plans).
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and risk assessment
- Ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
- Familiarity with underwriting software and tools
- R/SQL programming experience
- Bonus: Knowledge of current healthcare regulations and market trends
- Bonus: Experience with implementing automation

- This is a remote position. Our whole company works remotely. Company headquarters are in Dallas, Texas.
